In B2B services specific knowledge is often needed for the relevant area of expertise, which can be anything from consultancy, to recruitment to the provision of business information;
If you are selling office products, such as photocopiers, paper and so on, employers are usually just looking for sharp, commercial B2B skills.
The breadth of this sector means salaries and bonuses vary hugely. Average field sales OTE are about �35,000 a year, but for more specialised business services salary alone could be �50,000 plus up to 25% bonus and benefits such as pension, car and healthcare.
Commercial sales skills tend to be more transferable, so you can move around different products within the sector fairly easily.
Beware, however, that it�s usually easier to transfer from a sector such as FMCG to office products than the other way around.
