Create success in Engineering and Manufacturing
The outlook for careers in this sector is robust, driven by the fact the variety and number of goods being produced is increasing.
Those doing well in technical sales tend to be graduate engineers who have progressed into sales and are able to offer clients a precise solution.
But theres plenty of opportunity for commercially-oriented professionals selling less technical elements, such as pumps, fittings and fastenings. Here, good old-fashioned sales flair is whats needed to clinch the deal.
Be aware, however, that it wont be easy to transfer into some fields without experience. At area manager level, for instance, they will expect you to hit the ground running and know your market inside and out.
Non-technical sales manager jobs tend to pay 35,000-45,000 plus bonus and perks. Take note that greater skills and knowledge dont always convert into a higher base salary.
